In 2025, the beloved stop-motion film ParaNorman is making a comeback to theaters, bringing with it a brand-new CG-animated short film set in the same universe. Titled The Thrifting, the short follows the adventures of Norman Babcock, the young protagonist who can see and communicate with the dead, as he and his friends Courtney and Neil venture to a curiosity shop called Ye Olde Grimporium in search of Halloween costumes.
The short film features the return of Anna Kendrick as the voice of Courtney, Norman's older sister, as well as the introduction of a new character named Chad, voiced by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard. As Norman and Neil explore the shop's shelves, they soon realize there's more than just dusty antiques lurking among the shelves, leading to some spooky hijinks.
Alongside the new short, the original ParaNorman film is also being re-released in both 3D and 2D formats to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Laika, the stop-motion animation studio behind the beloved 2012 movie. Fans of the franchise will have the opportunity to revisit the world of ParaNorman on the big screen once again starting October 25th in the US and October 23rd internationally.
