Broadway's New Scare: Paranormal Activity Hits Stage

Broadway producers are experimenting with a new genre as "Paranormal Activity" prepares to open at the August Wilson Theatre on August 14, 2026. This live stage adaptation of the successful horror film franchise seeks to translate cinematic scares into a visceral theatrical experience.

The production, inspired by the 2007 film, centers on a young couple experiencing disturbing events in their new home. Director Felix Barrett aims to draw a different audience to Broadway, hoping those familiar with the movie will be enticed by the prospect of live terror in New York City.

Illusion designer Chris Fisher collaborated closely with writer Levi Holloway and director Barrett to integrate scares directly into the script.
