Summary
- A gambler claims he is owed $150 million by an executive.
- The executive allegedly promised to produce a TV series in exchange for services.
- The lawsuit also involves non-public information about media deals.

R.J. Cipriani has filed a $150 million lawsuit against Paramount Skydance president Jeff Shell. The lawsuit, filed on Monday, alleges Shell failed to fulfill a verbal agreement to help produce a TV series titled "Star Serenade." Cipriani claims this was in exchange for crisis communications services he provided to Shell.
In addition to the TV series dispute, the suit asserts that Shell shared confidential information about Paramount's business. This included details about the company's $7.7 billion UFC media rights deal and concerns about an alleged overpayment in an $110 billion deal for Warner Bros. Discovery.
Shell's career has seen significant shifts, including his termination as NBCUniversal's CEO in 2023 due to allegations of misconduct. He later joined RedBird Capital Partners, which was involved in Skydance Media's successful bid for Paramount Global in 2025, after which he was appointed president.
Cipriani's legal action follows an investigation by an outside law firm into his claims. The U.S. Securities and Exchanges Commission is also reviewing a related whistleblower complaint. Shell's attorney previously stated that a draft complaint contained factual and legal errors and vowed a strong response if a lawsuit was filed.
