21 Aug
Summary
- Former Paramount exec seeks over $4 million in damages.
- Lawsuit alleges age discrimination and breach of contract.
- Paramount accused of replacing older executive with younger one.

Paramount Studios is embroiled in a significant legal battle, facing a lawsuit filed by former executive Chris Aronson. Aronson, who held the position of president of Domestic Theatrical Distribution, is demanding more than $4 million in damages. The suit, lodged in LA Superior Court, accuses the studio of age discrimination and breach of contract.
Aronson, 69 at the time of his departure in late 2025, asserts that Paramount unlawfully terminated his employment and cut off his healthcare benefits. He alleges the studio attempted to reduce his compensation significantly by shortening his contract, a move he refused. The lawsuit further contends that he was replaced by a substantially younger executive, indicating a discriminatory motive.
The filing points to Paramount's workforce data, suggesting that older employees, particularly those aged 55 and above, bore a disproportionate number of layoffs. Aronson's legal team argues this conduct stripped him of contractual benefits and prematurely ended his career in theatrical distribution, supporting claims of age-based targeting and a discriminatory motive.
The legal action comes after Skydance took control of Paramount. Aronson's exit was initially characterized as amicable, but this lawsuit reveals significant underlying disputes regarding his contract and alleged age bias. Paramount has not yet issued a comment on the matter.
