16 Apr
Summary
- Films will play exclusively in theaters for at least 45 days.
- Streaming release will occur after a 90-day window.
- The company plans to increase film output post-acquisition.

Paramount Skydance Corp. has announced a firm commitment to a minimum 45-day theatrical exclusivity for all its upcoming films, as stated by CEO David Ellison at CinemaCon. This policy ensures movies will be available only in theaters for at least this period before heading to streaming platforms.
Following the initial theatrical run, films will become available on streaming services, such as Paramount+, after a 90-day window. Ellison emphasized that the theatrical experience is crucial for launching and growing multi-platform franchises and intellectual property over generations.
The company intends to significantly boost its film output, with plans to release 15 movies this year, an increase from eight in 2025. Post-acquisition of Warner Bros., the combined entity aims to produce a minimum of 30 films annually.
This strategic move comes amid external criticism regarding the pending $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. by Paramount. Concerns have been raised by industry professionals about potential job losses, increased costs, and reduced viewer options, leading to a public letter of opposition from over 3,000 individuals.
