Homemade Rocket to Space: Hendrix Novella Goes Hollywood

Paramount Pictures has announced plans to develop "BadAsstronauts," a novella by acclaimed author Grady Hendrix, into a feature film. The project will be produced by Todd Garner and Adam Goldworm, with Hendrix serving as executive producer. The story centers on an unconventional, blue-collar space odyssey, detailing a washed-up astrophysicist's decision to construct a homemade rocket and launch it into orbit.

This ambitious, albeit ill-advised, backyard mission is undertaken to rescue his cousin, who finds themselves stranded in space. It’s a narrative of underdogs finding renewed purpose, family bonds, and pride as their scrappy endeavor evolves into a national movement that captivates the country.

Hendrix, celebrated as one of the world's best-selling horror writers, has had numerous works adapted for screen. His novels, including "The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires" and "The Final Girl Support Group," have secured adaptations with major studios and streamers, underscoring his prolific storytelling career.
