- The role was previously held by the late Lance Reddick.
- Papa Legba is the spirit gatekeeper crucial for life and death deals.
Orlando Jones has taken over the role of Papa Legba in the current season of "American Horror Story: 13." This powerful spirit, known as the Gatekeeper of the Spirit World, was previously portrayed by the late Lance Reddick. Jones, an original "MADtv" cast member and star of "American Gods," now embodies the character.
Papa Legba plays a crucial role in balancing the scales of life and death, often making deals with the witches of the coven. His relationship with them is historically complex due to the significant cost of his agreements.
In "Apocalypse," Papa Legba briefly allied with Cordelia to oppose the antichrist Michael Langdon. This season, with Satan as a direct threat, the witches are once again calling upon him for assistance, reprising his significant function within the narrative.
The FX series "American Horror Story" airs new episodes on Thursdays. The current season, "American Horror Story: 13," features Jones as the formidable Papa Legba.
