Overwatch Season 4 commences on August 11, introducing the new tank hero, D.Mon, a mech pilot from South Korea's Meka Squad. D.Mon provides agile, sci-fi sword-and-shield melee gameplay, expanding the roster for players who prefer close-quarters combat. This addition follows years of community anticipation since her appearance in lore.
Beyond D.Mon, Season 4 brings several enhancements. Maps like Busan, Eichenwalde, and Paraiso have been refreshed. The battle pass system receives a revamp, including a new interface and options for premium pass holders to exchange legendary rewards. Midseason, previously available battle passes will return for players to unlock or continue progressing.
The traditional kill feed is replaced by 'In Combat Feedback,' offering a new team status indicator and a 'protect' stat for tanks. These updates aim to clarify in-game situations, such as ally respawn timers and the impact of tank abilities. The activity feed will also better show damage contributions to eliminations.
D.Mon's kit features a plasma sword for primary attacks and a shield for defense, with a lunging attack ability. Her ultimate, Limit Break, charges her sword for a damaging arc that grants overhealth and amplifies subsequent damage. Like D.Va, she can re-enter pilot form if her mech is destroyed.
D.Mon is expected to excel in rush compositions and pair well with damage ultimates due to her damage amplification. However, she may struggle against highly mobile or long-range compositions, particularly on maps with significant high ground. Her gameplay emphasizes skillful use of cooldowns and dash abilities.
