An entertainment website has apologized to the people of Shotts and Outlander actress Caitriona Balfe. The website had misquoted Balfe, attributing a comment calling the Scottish town an "armpit" to her. This error stemmed from an editing mistake.
Balfe clarified her remarks, stating they referred to a specific location within Shotts. She described a "particular place" that was an old dump and swamp, where filming for over a week was difficult. Sets were reportedly attacked, and the ground was problematic.
The website has since apologized publicly on social media and released an unedited transcript of the interview. They expressed deep regret for the error and apologized to Balfe, the residents of Shotts, and all involved parties.
