Oulu, Northern Finland, is set to host the inaugural Lumo Art & Tech festival, a ten-day international celebration of art, technology, and science. The festival will unfold across 16 venues, presenting a diverse program of exhibitions, light and sound installations, and audiovisual performances.
A major highlight is an exhibition featuring Icelandic artist Björk, opening on November 13. This exhibition will showcase three audiovisual installations that previously debuted in Reykjavík. Björk is also scheduled for a special DJ set on November 15 at the new waterfront venue, Tarkastamo.
The festival integrates Lumo Light Festival, the new TAR Festival, and FLASH5 Light Art Biennial. It also features works by numerous international and Finnish artists, including Jakob Kudsk Steensen and Josefina Nelimarkka. Exhibitions from institutions like Fotografiska Tallinn and Kiasma will also be presented.
The professional program, running from November 17-20, will gather artists, researchers, and technology experts for discussions on topics like the Future of Work and Sustainability. This initiative builds on Oulu's reputation as a City of Media Arts, with plans for Lumo Art & Tech to continue annually.
