The 2026 Oscars are set to welcome a distinguished group of presenters, including Chase Infiniti, Demi Moore, Javier Bardem, and Chris Evans. This announcement arrives shortly after a tumultuous week in awards season, marked by a controversial incident at the BAFTA Awards. During the BAFTAs, a guest with Tourette Syndrome uttered a racial slur while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were presenting an award.
Delroy Lindo, one of the individuals targeted by the slur, offered his first public statement at the NAACP Image Awards. Accepting an award with his "Sinners" director Ryan Coogler, Lindo expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. He characterized the event as an example of "something that could be very negative becoming very positive."
The BAFTA organization has since issued a full apology and pledged to conduct a thorough review of their ceremony. Meanwhile, the NAACP Image Awards, which aired live, provided a space for expressions of solidarity. Host Deon Cole made a lighthearted remark about attendees with Tourette's, and actress Regina Hall commended Jordan and Lindo for their "class."
