Oscar Isaac is gearing up to take on the role of Dr. Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro's highly anticipated remake of the classic monster tale. In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, the acclaimed actor showcased his versatile talents, playing a variety of musical instruments at the request of host Jimmy Fallon.
During the "Random Instrument Challenge" segment, Isaac struggled at first with playing the Tears for Fears hit "Shout" on a bagpipe, but later impressed by plucking out Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" on a stand-up bass. The actor also shared that his 6-year-old son, Mads, has formed a band called "Fleece," with Isaac himself on guitar.
According to Isaac, del Toro wanted his version of the mad scientist to be more "rock star" than the typical moody, interior portrayal. The director encouraged the actor to channel the expressive energy of icons like Mick Jagger and the late Prince, which Isaac happily embraced. With his high-heeled boots and long blonde wig, the actor is set to bring a unique flair to the classic Frankenstein character.
