- Peck focusing on creativity and artistry, unconcerned with expectations
- Peck's dream collaborator is country icon Dolly Parton

In the lead-up to the release of his new EP "Appaloosa" on November 14, 2025, country singer Orville Peck is reflecting on the current phase of his career. Peck recently sat down with Billboard's Tetris Kelly at Los Angeles' Beachwood Café, where the two discussed Peck's artistic journey.
Peck explains that he's been "going back to [his] roots" and "diving into the creativity and the artistry" that he grew up loving. He says the new EP has a "very constant air" in terms of its lyrics, with Peck simply making music for himself again, unconcerned with external expectations or perceptions.
The singer, who has risen to prominence in the country music scene over the past few years, credits his collaborations with artists like Noah Cyrus and Willie Nelson for further bolstering his confidence in his own artistic output. However, Peck reveals that his dream collaborator is the legendary Dolly Parton, calling her the "last one on [his] absolute bucket list."
As a disruptive force in the country genre, Peck is encouraged to see more diversity and equity emerging, with more artists feeling validated to make country music outside the "homogenized idea" of what the genre "needs" to be. However, he acknowledges that progress in country music can be "tricky," with some still clinging to traditional gatekeeping.
