Dussehra transformed into a vibrant celebration of creativity and inclusion for 250 children under the Bal Yojana scheme in Pratapgarh. A unique eco-friendly workshop, spearheaded by District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey as part of Mission Shakti on October 15, provided these children, who have lost one or both parents, with a joyous and meaningful festival experience.
The initiative partnered with Creste Kids, a creative organization, to facilitate the event. Children actively constructed three-foot-tall Ravana effigies using natural materials like neem and cow dung, ensuring an eco-conscious celebration. Beyond effigy making, they crafted bows and arrows, learning Ramayana stories about courage and righteousness.
The workshop aimed to instill a sense of belonging and dignity. While the Ravana effigies were intended for traditional burning, personalized fridge magnets served as lasting mementos of their creative achievements. The event successfully blended care, inclusion, and cultural traditions, enabling the children to be creators rather than mere spectators of the festival.
