Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired the Holocaust survivor drama 'The Optimist,' slated for a digital release on November 17, followed by a December 18 Blu-ray and DVD launch. This follows the film's earlier U.S. theatrical release.
Directed by Finn Taylor and produced by Jeanine Thomas, the film stars Stephen Lang as Herbert Heller, a Holocaust survivor who formed an unlikely bond with troubled teenager Abby. Their friendship becomes a catalyst for healing as Herbert confronts suppressed memories.
The narrative interweaves Herbert's past, from his childhood in Prague and experiences in concentration camps, with the present-day interactions. The ensemble cast includes Luke David Blumm and Elsie Fisher.
Producer Jeanine Thomas was inspired to make the film after meeting Heller in 2014 and witnessing his impact. The production spanned eight years and involved hundreds of individuals across two continents.
'The Optimist' is celebrated as a testament to the human spirit and the power of connection. Its upcoming home entertainment release aims to share its uplifting message widely with audiences.
