"Only Murders" Star Teases Spinoff Featuring Beloved Character

According to Michael Cyril Creighton, the actor who portrays Howard Morris on the hit Hulu series "Only Murders in the Building," a spinoff starring his character is a distinct possibility. Creighton, 46, has already envisioned the concept in his mind, with the idea of Howard traveling around the country with his dog, selling mysteries. The actor even suggests that the trio of Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin) could make occasional guest appearances.

While Creighton initially imagined the spinoff as an animated series, he is now open to the idea of Howard's global travels being depicted in live-action. The actor remains hopeful that this potential project will come to fruition in the years to come.

In the current season of "Only Murders in the Building," the trio is investigating a new murder in their Arconia building in New York City, with the deceased being the beloved doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca). Creighton admits that he suspects his own character "every single season," though he has not been the murderer (at least not yet). The actor enjoys playing "two different angles" in a scene, leaving the audience unsure of whether Howard is nefarious or not.

The cast members sometimes can't resist swapping theories about the show's potential plot holes, such as who poisoned Oliver's dog and who wrote the letter on Jan's door. Many fans have speculated that Howard could be an overarching antagonist in the series, but Creighton firmly believes that his character would never harm a dog, as that would be a "betrayal of the character."
