Olivia Rodrigo Releases New Single "Drop Dead" with Versailles Music Video

Olivia Rodrigo has released "Drop Dead," the lead single from her anticipated third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The song, produced by Dan Nigro and co-written by Amy Allen, delves into themes of stalking a crush, zodiac signs, and favorite songs, set against a backdrop reminiscent of Marie Antoinette's era. The accompanying music video, directed by Petra Collins, was filmed at the Palace of Versailles in Paris, adding a layer of historical grandeur to the release.

Rodrigo announced the album title, YSPSFAGSIL, earlier this month via a fan newsletter, noting her tendency to infuse love songs with melancholy. This announcement coincided with a strategic social media purge and the appearance of a billboard featuring the album title on Los Angeles' Melrose Avenue. The new album marks a reunion with producer Dan Nigro, who also contributed to Rodrigo's successful 2021 debut, Sour.
