"White Lies" is described as an intimate and provocative drama that delves into family dynamics, loss, and pain. It explores how love's shape can transform throughout life, spanning three generations.
The story centers on Jack Freeman, played by Hartnett, a child of divorce whose own marital and familial struggles mirror his parents'. Seeking escape through a tumultuous journey, he finds himself more lost until an encounter with a woman from a contrasting background leads him to unexpected self-discovery.
Fernando Sulichin is producing through his New Element Media, known for backing Stone's "Savages" and "Snowden." The production team expressed immense pride in the accomplished work by Stone, his cast, and crew.
Producers highlighted the thrill of reuniting Stone with Douglas and Dafoe, actors integral to his iconic films "Platoon" and "Wall Street." They also noted Stone's long-standing admiration for Barkin and his positive first-time collaboration with Gere and Chapman.
Douglas's recent major film appearance was in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," while Dafoe's credits include "Phoenician Scheme" and "Nosferatu." Barkin was recently seen in "The Out-Laws," and Gere, son of Richard Gere, appeared in "Euphoria."
