Philanthropist Olga Rabinovich is set to receive the first-ever Encounters Award at the São Paulo International Film Festival's Encontro de Ideias Audiovisuais. This honor recognizes her profound commitment to advancing Brazilian cinema and enhancing its international presence.
The Encounters Award was established to acknowledge the crucial role of private funding in the arts, fostering connections between investors and creators. Rabinovich founded the Olga Rabinovich Institute and its initiative, Projeto Paradiso, in 2018, driven by a belief in the world-changing power of stories and a desire to invest in their creators.
Projeto Paradiso provides vital support for Brazilian screen professionals, offering fellowships, residencies, and workshops to bolster their global reach. The initiative has backed notable festival films and a growing network of 278 Brazilian professionals. It also connects talent with over 250 international partner institutions.
Since 2018, Projeto Paradiso has deepened its ties with the São Paulo International Film Festival, introducing awards and forming new partnerships. This year's Encontro de Ideias Audiovisuais runs from October 14th, with the festival itself taking place from October 15th to 29th.
