Summary
- A dark scene from The Office's 2009 Koi Pond episode was cut.
- The scene depicted a simulated suicide for child viewers.
- It was removed due to complaints from a network executive's wife.

An episode of the popular comedy series The Office contained a scene so disturbing that it was ultimately removed after its initial airing. The scene, part of the season six Halloween episode titled 'Koi Pond' which originally aired on October 29, 2009, was an opening sequence.
This excised segment depicted Michael Scott welcoming children to Dunder Mifflin's haunted house. He first appeared with a 'D**k in a Box' prop before staging a mock suicide by hanging himself with a rope from the ceiling, intending to scare the children. He then reappeared to deliver a message about suicide prevention.
Despite airing initially, the scene faced backlash and complaints to the network. Caryn Zucker, the wife of NBC Universal's then-CEO Jeff Zucker, who was involved in suicide prevention efforts, reportedly advocated for its removal. Consequently, the episode was re-edited, and the original footage was archived, becoming a footnote in the show's broadcast history.
