The Odisha Society of United Kingdom (CIC) recently organized Odisha Parba UK at the Nehru Centre in London, a cultural event celebrating Odisha's classical and folk arts. This London edition of the popular annual event aimed to share Odisha's rich heritage on a global stage.
Performances included the dynamic Bagha Nacha (tiger dance) by Subhashree Sahoo and Saswati Dash, and the Dhemsa, led by Sabita Pradhan. A devotional Odia abhinaya, 'Kene Gheni Jaucha Jagannathanku,' also moved the audience. The evening began with Jagannathashtakam by Pallabi Basak, honoring Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
Odissi danseuse Sushmita spoke on Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra's legacy, emphasizing the importance of passing his teachings to future generations. Organizers Sweta Mohanty and Bibhuti Bhusan Pattnayak highlighted their efforts in promoting Odisha's culture and achievements internationally. Several dignitaries and members of the Odia diaspora attended the event.
