Octo Octa's Acid House Catharsis: Deep Dive

Maya Bouldry-Morrison, performing as Octo Octa, has released "Sigils for Survival," an album building on a decade of artistic consistency and personal evolution. This latest work distills her signature sound, rooted in acid and deep house traditions, into a style that is both warmly analog and pristine. The production, executed entirely on hardware instruments, emphasizes careful tuning for coherence and emotional depth.

The album offers a deeply cathartic listening experience, characterized by its gentle emotionality and danceable rhythms. Tracks like "First Intention" joyously blend cheerful synths and acid warbles, while "...To the Divinity of Gay Sex" provides a tender, downtempo exploration. The centerpiece, "Rituals to Exist & Connect," is an expansive journey, masterfully layering energetic basslines and breakbeats with ethereal keys and steel drum riffs, culminating in a profound sense of release and connection.
