Hulu's lineup is dominated by network programming, FX comedies and dramas, as well as streaming originals. However, a surprising show has slipped through the cracks and turned out to be something special - Obituary, a dark comedy produced in Ireland.
Obituary, which recently premiered its second season, follows Elvira Clancy, the obituary writer for a small-town newspaper. Unfortunately for Elvira, the townspeople just aren't dying quickly enough for her to earn a living. So, she decides to take matters into her own hands and help some of them to an early grave, so she can keep making money by writing about them.
Elvira is a less altruistic version of Dexter Morgan, the famous serial killer from the Dexter series. Like Dexter, Elvira has adopted her own code about who to kill and how to stage their deaths. While on a more serious show, Elvira would be the villain, here she is the anti-hero that viewers can't help but love, thanks to the show's dark sense of humor.
As Elvira's world begins to unravel in season 2, with someone close to her dead and her as the prime suspect in a murder she didn't commit, the town may not be big enough for the both of her and another serial killer lurking about.
