Barack Obama's Presidential Center in Chicago is poised to inspire future generations to become a "Force -- for change." The former president, in promotional videos featuring Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, highlights the center's mission to empower young people.
The 19-acre campus, located on the South Side of Chicago, will officially open its doors to the public on June 19. Ticket sales for entry to the museum are scheduled to commence on May 6.
More than just a museum, the Obama Presidential Center is an expansive complex designed to serve as a hub for inspiration and community. It includes a museum, a Chicago public library branch, extensive parkland, a playground, public art installations, dining options, and a 60,000-square-foot athletic complex.
The primary museum building, a 225-foot granite structure nicknamed "the Obamalisk," will feature exterior inscriptions from one of Obama's significant speeches. While the museum requires paid entry, other facilities and amenities across the campus will be accessible to the public free of charge.
