Oasis Stars Shine at Venice Film Festival

Liam and Noel Gallagher, the celebrated brothers behind the band Oasis, graced the Venice Film Festival to debut their documentary, "Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger." The film chronicles the band's recent reunion tour, which saw the reconciliation of one of music's most famously fractured relationships. The documentary captures the slow repair of their bond over weeks of rehearsal and months on the road.

Filmmakers Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace aimed for authenticity, remaining largely invisible during the process. They observed the gradual thaw between the siblings, noting how even their children, who had never met, became close friends during the tour. The brothers' shared working-class background meant emotions were not openly displayed, a detail noted by screenwriter Steven Knight.

As the tour progressed, the film expanded its focus to encompass the fans, whose affection became a crucial element in the brothers' rapprochement. Knight described the real-life story as more compelling than any script he could have written, emphasizing the theme of forgiveness and redemption at the heart of the documentary, which is being shown out of competition.
