The 32nd edition of New Nordic Films, scheduled from August 25-28 in Haugesund, Norway, has revealed its anticipated lineup. The Nordic Co-Production Market (NCPM) will feature 21 development titles, chosen from a record 120 submissions, indicating a strong year for Nordic cinema. "Vagina Dentata" and "The Virtuous" are among the female-led horror and empowering dramas set to debut.
Animation plays a significant role this year, with multiple projects featured in both the Co-Production Market and Works in Progress sections. Harald Zwart's Viking tale "ViQueens" headlines the animation slate in post-production. The event will also host a closed market screening of 18 high-profile Nordic productions and co-productions.
Nearly 300 industry professionals from 28 countries are expected to attend, including distributors, sales agents, and festival programmers. Panel discussions will explore the international success of Nordic cinema and foster French-Nordic collaboration. Literary agencies will also participate in the "Books in Haugesund" session.
