Summary
- Finnish and Icelandic production houses co-produce a new crime series.
- The series combines crime, romance, tango, and heavy metal elements.
- A crime reporter investigates her brother's murder in Reykjavik.

Helsinki-filmi from Finland and Glassriver from Iceland have partnered to co-produce a slate of films and series, reflecting European producers' efforts to secure strong collaborations in a challenging market.
Their first joint project is the Finnish crime series "Tango Metal" ("Rautamurhat"), which blends crime, romance, tango, and heavy metal. The six-part show follows Paula, a Finnish crime reporter and tango enthusiast, who travels to Reykjavik to investigate the ritualistic murder of her estranged brother.
In Iceland, Paula is joined by detective Bjarki Haraldsson. While Paula grapples with her husband's recent death, Bjarki balances his detective work with being the frontman for a metal band. Their investigation draws them closer as the killer closes in.
The production partners are in advanced discussions with commissioners in Finland and Iceland, with production slated to begin later in 2026. This international co-production strategy is seen as essential for navigating declining financing in Europe and leveraging shared Nordic values like trust and a dark sense of humor.
