She also noted the absence of sex scenes and unappetizing food visuals.

Despite her strong criticism regarding psychological and emotional depth, Wilson acknowledged the film's positive impact. "The Odyssey" has spurred renewed interest in Homer's classic, with translations, including her own, experiencing increased sales. Wilson expressed disappointment that Nolan's adaptation did not reach greater creative heights, citing a combination of "grandiosity and superficiality." While the film features more female characters than typical Nolan productions, Wilson felt they lacked significant speaking roles compared to the poem.
