Noah Schnapp Goes Instagram Official With New Boyfriend

Actor Noah Schnapp, famous for playing Will Byers in Netflix's Stranger Things, has recently made his relationship public. He shared an image on his Instagram stories on Wednesday, showing him with a new boyfriend, accompanied by the caption 'One month of us.'

This public declaration of his relationship comes more than three years after Schnapp initially came out as gay in January 2023. He shared a video on TikTok at the time, expressing relief after keeping his identity hidden for 18 years.

Schnapp's personal journey significantly paralleled his character Will Byers's arc. He confirmed in 2022 that Will was gay and harbored feelings for his best friend, Mike Wheeler. The fifth season of Stranger Things depicted Will officially coming out.

Schnapp defended the on-screen coming-out scene, which some viewers labeled 'woke,' stating it felt 'perfect' and 'not forced.' He drew from his own experiences to prepare for the scene, rereading personal coming-out messages and reflecting on photos from that time.

He also recounted telling his co-star Millie Bobby Brown about his sexuality via FaceTime while at a Party City. Schnapp credits his role as Will Byers with accelerating his self-acceptance, stating he would likely still be closeted without the character.

Reflecting on the conclusion of Stranger Things, Schnapp described the last day as surreal and the goodbye difficult. He feels his work with the character is complete, and while he is open to future projects with the show's creators, he is not planning to reprise the role of Will Byers.
