Nivin Pauly: Paulo Coelho Inspired My Big Break

Actor Nivin Pauly recently shared with students at St Teresa's College in Kochi how Paulo Coelho's novel 'The Alchemist' played a pivotal role in his journey to cinema. He confessed to experiencing significant self-doubt before his initial audition, questioning his prospects in the film industry.

Pauly explained that the book's philosophy provided him with the courage to take a chance, leading to his first audition and encounter with director Vineeth. This decision marked a crucial turning point, enabling him to pursue his acting career.

Drawing a parallel to 'The Alchemist's' protagonist, Pauly encouraged students to embrace opportunities, even amidst fear of failure or criticism. He stressed that participating in auditions and new experiences can lead to significant life changes, a lesson he learned from his own career.

The actor also addressed educators, urging them to mentor all students, not just the academically high-achievers, and to support those lacking confidence. He further motivated young women to challenge societal restrictions impacting their ambitions.

Meanwhile, Pauly is preparing for the Onam release of his film 'Bethlehem Kudumba Unit,' scheduled for August 21, which also stars Mamitha Baiju. The movie is one of several Malayalam films slated for the festive season.
