In a recent Nintendo Direct, the company has unveiled the first official trailer for the highly anticipated 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie', set to release on April 26, 2026. The sequel to 2023's billion-dollar hit 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' promises an interplanetary adventure, with several familiar faces and new additions to the cast.
The trailer reveals that Bowser, voiced by Jack Black, has been shrunk down to a miniature version of his castle after the events of the previous film. Despite this, he maintains an antagonistic relationship with Mario, played by Chris Pratt, while also appearing to warm up to Luigi, voiced by Charlie Day. However, a new threat emerges in the form of Bowser Jr., who aims to break his father out of the plumber brothers' clutches.
The trailer also introduces a new character, Rosalina, the godlike overseer of the cosmos, voiced by Brie Larson. Rosalina is seen using her magical powers to take down a giant robot, hinting at the cosmic scale of the adventure. Other returning cast members include Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.
With the success of the first 'Super Mario Bros. Movie' and the popularity of Jack Black's Bowser, Nintendo and Illumination are poised to deliver another hit with this sequel, which draws inspiration from the beloved 'Super Mario Sunshine' and 'Super Mario Galaxy' video game titles.
