In October 2025, Bollywood actress Nimrat Kaur paid a deeply personal visit to a memorial dedicated to her late father, Major Bhupender Singh, in Kashmir. The memorial was inaugurated a year ago on what would have been her father's 73rd birthday, immortalizing his life and service to the nation.
Nimrat, known for her roles in films like 'The Lunchbox', has always carried her father's legacy with immense pride. During her visit, she and her mother visited two memorials - one in Beacon, Srinagar Cantonment, and the newly dedicated Titanic View Point on NH 44, where the family had spent their last days together.
In a heartfelt social media post, Nimrat expressed her gratitude to the Border Roads Organisation and the Indian Army for their efforts in establishing these memorials. She also thanked Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan and Brigadier Chirag Ghura for leading the initiative, calling it a "transcendent experience" to see her father's name and form immortalized.
Nimrat's father was martyred in 1994 while serving in Kashmir. She has previously spoken about the heartbreaking loss, recalling how they were on a winter vacation visiting him when he was kidnapped by the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. Major Bhupender Singh was just 44 years old at the time of his death.
Through this emotional visit, Nimrat continues to honor her father's sacrifice and legacy, which she says left behind a lifelong goodwill for the family. As she pays tribute to her father's memory, Nimrat's journey serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by India's armed forces and their families.
