A memorial has been unveiled at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park to honor Nigel, a three-legged puma who captured the hearts of visitors. The sculpture, located outside his former enclosure, serves as a lasting tribute to his life and triumphs over numerous health challenges.
Nigel first arrived at the park with a vision condition and a timid nature. He later faced tumors, a swallowed toy sponge, and arthritis, which ultimately led to the amputation of one leg. Despite these setbacks, Nigel remained spirited. He was euthanized in June 2025 at age 13 due to declining health and arthritis in another leg.
The park owner noted the significant public outpouring of sympathy following Nigel's death. A £5,500 sculpture, created by local artist Andreolli Christian, was funded entirely by donations raised within just one week, showcasing the profound connection the community felt with the resilient puma.
