Nicole Kidman to Train as Death Doula

Actress Nicole Kidman has expressed her intention to become a death doula, a decision influenced by the recent passing of her mother. Kidman, 58, shared that her mother, who died at 84 in September 2024, experienced loneliness in her final moments.

Kidman reflected that she and her sister, along with their children and demanding careers, found it challenging to provide the impartial solace she wished for her mother. This desire led her to investigate the death doula profession.

End-of-life doulas, as defined by the International End-of-Life Doula Association, offer psychosocial, emotional, spiritual, and practical care to uphold dignity during the dying process.

This personal journey follows the earlier loss of Kidman's father in 2014. She also recalled her mother's health challenges in 2022, when the family prioritized her comfort and ensured she could visit an art exhibit.

In March 2025, Kidman honored her mother on what would have been her 85th birthday, sharing heartfelt tributes on social media.
