The couple joined a host of notable guests, including Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey, to celebrate the museum founded by George Lucas. Located in Exposition Park, the venue showcases visual art, illustrations, and cinematic material.

Cage and Shibata's public appearance offered another glimpse into their relationship, which began over five years ago. The actor has previously recounted meeting Shibata in Japan, where a shared fondness for animals, including her two sugar gliders, fostered their connection.

Their romance blossomed across different countries, leading to a proposal over FaceTime while they were apart. They married on February 16, 2021, at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, a date chosen to honor Cage's late father. The ceremony blended Catholic and Shinto traditions.

Cage has expressed deep happiness in his fifth marriage, telling the Los Angeles Times in 2022 that he "got it right this time." He described himself as a romantic who desires to give his partner everything when in love.
