- Cannon expressed love for all children despite past pain's influence.

Nick Cannon has spoken candidly about how his extensive fatherhood, resulting in 12 children, was connected to unresolved trauma. Following his 2014 separation from Mariah Carey, Cannon welcomed ten additional children with different partners between 2017 and 2022. He explained that during that time, he was focused on maintaining his career and acted "carelessly" in his relationships.
In a therapy-informed interview, Cannon stated that he didn't consciously plan for so many children. He realized that his actions were a way of dealing with emotional aftermath and fame pressures. Despite acknowledging that he could have approached his relationships differently, he affirmed his love for all his children and family structure.
Cannon's fatherhood journey began with twins Monroe and Moroccan with Mariah Carey, born in 2011. After their divorce, his family grew with children from relationships with Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Alyssa Scott, Bre Tiesi, and LaNisha Cole. He experienced the profound loss of his son Zen with Alyssa Scott, who passed away at five months old in December 2021 due to brain cancer. Cannon and Scott later welcomed another child, Halo Marie Cannon, in 2022.
Now in his mid-40s, Cannon attributes his current clarity to therapy. He also disclosed a diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder. He believes that healing properly after his divorce could have led to a different life path, but he remains committed to his children and values his family deeply.
