In 2027, Scotland will welcome the NFTS Sean Connery Institute, a new filmmaking center in Edinburgh established through a partnership between the U.K.'s National Film and Television School (NFTS) and the Sean Connery Foundation.
This institute will unify and expand NFTS's Scottish operations, dedicating itself to nurturing emerging Scottish filmmakers and promoting their work globally. It plans to offer a robust public program, including screenings and masterclasses, alongside its core training.
The initiative builds upon the success of the Sean Connery Talent Lab, a year-long development program that has supported 75 filmmakers since its launch. The Lab's films have premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Jon Wardle, director of NFTS, emphasized this as a significant step, marking a long-term commitment to Scotland's screen industry and its emerging talent. The Connery family expressed pride in honoring their father's legacy and supporting Scottish talent.
