Nezza's stadium anthem protest sparks rebirth

Colombian-Dominican singer-songwriter Nezza is experiencing a significant career evolution, marked by her debut album 'SWEAT.' This project represents a "new awakening" and "rebirth of coming into her power," according to the artist. A pivotal moment occurred in June 2025 when Nezza sang the Spanish version of the national anthem at a Los Angeles Dodgers game.

Despite an alleged pre-performance directive from the Dodgers to not sing in Spanish, Nezza proceeded, calling the act "for my people." This decision led to a viral social media moment that significantly boosted her confidence and solidified her artistic identity.

Nezza, who began releasing music in 2018, feels she has finally found her sound with 'SWEAT.' She addresses the long-standing pressure from labels to choose a single language, emphasizing her commitment to Spanglish.

"It's my reality," she stated, aiming to be a role model for young girls who, like her, exist between English and Spanish-speaking cultures.
