Newfields is ushering in a new era for its fourth-floor gallery space, shifting from the popular Lume installations to a dedicated global contemporary art strategy. This initiative, announced by museum director Belinda Tate, will showcase a diverse range of international artists, with a particular emphasis on women and artists of color. Two major projects are planned for the fourth floor, alongside another elsewhere, promising fresh artistic experiences for the community.
Museum leadership is also undertaking a feasibility study for significant campus expansion. President and CEO Le Monte Booker revealed that Newfields is consulting with Studio Ma to assess the potential for adding a conservatory and a new wing to the Indianapolis Museum of Art. This forward-looking plan aims to redefine the institution's physical presence and offerings over the next decade and a half.
