Andrew Chappelle will direct "I'm Gonna Kill You," a new queer erotic short film featuring Tony nominee James Cusati-Moyer and "Hamilton" star Phillipa Soo. The film, written by Chappelle, is set in a future "all gay colony" and follows the journey of two lovers, Cal and Spector, whose internal conflicts have dire consequences for the community.
Supporting cast members include Johnny Sibilly, Michael Graceffa, Angus O'Brien, Brandon Black, and Sara Lindsey. Juxtapose Studio is leading production, backed by a $25,000 investment from Troye Sivan and Grindr's Tap or Block campaign, and a $5,000 grant from the InsideOUT Toronto Film Festival. Chappelle stated the film explores life in smaller communities and aims to expand the thriller genre within queer cinema.
Juxtapose Studio's founding partner, Luke Anderson, highlighted the agency's commitment to supporting queer, female, and POC storytelling. He emphasized the importance of diversifying the escapist genre with LGBTQ+ narratives. Chappelle previously wrote the screenplay for the 2023 short "Fanatic," which won an award at SCAD.
