Netflix Orders 'Arrivals': A New Manifest Story

Netflix has announced a new series titled "Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery," set to expand the universe of the popular show Manifest. This spinoff will introduce an entirely new group of characters, offering a fresh perspective on the mysteries that captivated audiences. The series is developed by Manifest creator Jeff Rake, alongside writers and co-executive producers Margaret Easley and Laura Putney, who also serve as co-showrunners.

The original Manifest series began with Flight 828 encountering severe turbulence, only for its passengers to discover that over five years had passed upon landing. The new series, "Arrivals," will echo this premise. Its logline states that a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver, with passengers emerging with no memory of their identities or origins. A social worker and a Homeland Security agent will collaborate with these new arrivals to prevent a global catastrophe.

Jeff Rake expressed his excitement, stating that the Manifest world still has many stories to tell and that bringing fans a new mystery is beyond his wildest dreams. Jinny Howe, Netflix's head of scripted series for the U.S. and Canada, highlighted the creative continuity ensured by the original team's involvement, promising to honor the original's success while introducing a fresh viewpoint for a global audience. Manifest originally aired on NBC for three seasons before being canceled and subsequently revived by Netflix for a fourth and final season.
