Mubi has unveiled the trailer for "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma," a new horror film directed by Jane Schoenbrun. This movie offers a stylized, meta-commentary on the slasher genre and is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 7. The trailer hints at a dark and intense narrative.
The film centers on a young director, played by Hannah Einbinder, who aims to revive the Camp Miasma franchise. Her efforts lead her to a mysterious, reclusive former star of the original films, portrayed by Gillian Anderson.
Together, they are drawn into a disturbing world of fear and desire. This marks Schoenbrun's third feature, following "We're All Going to the World's Fair" and "I Saw the TV Glow." The cast also includes Amanda Fix, Arthur Conti, and Eva Victor, among others.
Einbinder is known for her role in "Hacks," for which she won an Emmy. Anderson, famous for "The X-Files" and "Sex Education," was recently seen in "The Abandons." Mubi financed the film, and Plan B produced it, with releases planned across North America, Latin America, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Benelux, Spain, Italy, Turkey, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
