Filming is scheduled to commence in Auckland, New Zealand, in early 2026 for a new cinematic adaptation. The story centers on Tender Branson, the sole survivor of a puritan cult, as he narrates his improbable ascent to superstardom during the final moments aboard an unoccupied commercial aircraft.
This project is brought to life by producers Ryan Rettig and Miles David Romney, alongside financier V42 and Auckland-based Ground Control. UTA Independent Film Group is spearheading worldwide sales for the film, with V42/D Squared Films also involved.
Previous attempts to adapt the novel were made by 20th Century Fox and director Francis Lawrence. This marks the latest adaptation of Palahniuk's work, following successful films like Fight Club and Choke.
