LA's New Studio Opens Doors in Woodland Hills
4 Mar
Summary
- A new 180,000 sq ft Cinespace studio complex opened in Woodland Hills.
- The studio offers six large soundstages and extensive production offices.
- New tax incentives aim to boost film production in California.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass recently inaugurated Cinespace's new studio complex in Woodland Hills. This 180,000-square-foot facility features six large soundstages and considerable production office space, marking a substantial addition to the area's filming infrastructure.
The studio's opening coincides with evolving industry conditions, including a contraction in post-pandemic streaming production and the impact of 2023's dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. These challenges spurred industry lobbying for enhanced state support.
California's Film and Television Tax Credit Program 4.0, enhanced in July 2025, has significantly raised incentive caps and tax credits. As of January 2026, this program has already approved 119 projects, projecting substantial economic activity and job creation.
Despite recent dips in soundstage occupancy to 63% in 2024 from over 93% (2016-2021), optimism remains. California Film Commission executive director Colleen Bell anticipates a gradual increase in production as projects approved under the new incentives begin principal photography.
