New Dr. Seuss Animated Hat Hat Hits Theaters Soon

The beloved Dr. Seuss character, "The Cat in the Hat," is set to return to the big screen in a brand-new animated feature from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation. Directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, who also penned the screenplay, the film boasts an impressive voice cast, with Bill Hader as the titular feline. The supporting cast includes Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Paula Pell, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Bowen Yang, and Tituss Burgess.

This new adaptation is the inaugural project from the newly established Warner Bros. Pictures Animation label, helmed by president Bill Damaschke. The studio aims to be a filmmaker-driven, globally focused theatrical entity, balancing iconic intellectual property with original stories. "Hope, humor and heart" are central to their narrative approach.

The animation for "The Cat in the Hat" is being handled by DNEG, known for their work on Netflix's "Nimona." The film's visual style is described as illustrative, becoming more adventurous as the Cat's journey unfolds through fantastical worlds. This animated version is the first feature adaptation of the classic 1957 story, distinct from the 2003 live-action film.

"The Cat in the Hat" is scheduled to arrive in theaters, including IMAX, on November 6. Warner Bros. Pictures Animation also has another Dr. Seuss adaptation, "Oh, The Places You'll Go!," slated for release on March 17, 2028, starring Ariana Grande and Josh Gad.
