An upcoming adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's 1991 novel, "American Psycho," is currently navigating its casting process. Author Bret Easton Ellis recently revealed that several high-profile actors have declined opportunities to participate in the project. Ellis suggested this reluctance might stem from the desire to avoid stepping into the iconic role previously embodied by Christian Bale.
Scott Z. Burns has since finalized a new draft of the script, following these casting rejections. Ellis emphasized that this new film, directed by Luca Guadagnino, will present a significantly different vision compared to the 2000 movie adaptation. Lionsgate is backing the production, with Frenesy Films producing and Edward R. Pressman's son, Sam Pressman, serving as an executive producer.
