A new literary award has been established to champion emerging writers from refugee and migrant backgrounds. The Footnote x Counterpoints prize will focus on fiction, offering a substantial £15,000 prize to the winner, which includes a cash sum and a publishing contract.
This initiative invites submissions from individuals residing in the UK or Ireland, seeking compelling narratives that explore themes of migration, displacement, and the search for belonging. The award aims to bring unique perspectives to the literary landscape, amplifying voices often unheard.
Submissions are currently open and will close on February 13th. A shortlist will be announced in May, with the winner revealed during Refugee Week in June. The Southbank Centre in London will host a public event for shortlisted writers.
