Neurosis, a seminal band from California, has unveiled "An Undying Love for a Burning World," their first studio album in a decade. This surprise release follows the departure of co-founder Scott Kelly, who left the group after admitting to domestic abuse. The band described the album as a crucial outlet for survival amidst overwhelming personal, societal, and environmental crises.
In their statement, Neurosis shared, "The trials and tribulations in our personal lives and as a band, combined with simply trying to navigate the insanity of our society, with the stress, anxiety, and isolation that come with it can be excruciating." They highlighted the existential confusion and sorrow brought on by the climate crisis and mass extinction as significant inspirations.
The new album also features Aaron Turner, vocalist and guitarist for Isis and Sumac, as a new member. Turner's contribution is featured on the record, and he is set to perform live with Neurosis for the first time at the Fire in the Mountains festival in Montana this July. The band concluded their statement with a sense of urgency, noting, "This was now or never."
