Netflix Adapts 'This Summer': New Romance Series

Netflix has greenlit a television adaptation of Carley Fortune's novel, "This Summer Will Be Different," with production commencing on Prince Edward Island. This project follows the success of another adaptation of Fortune's work, "Every Summer After." The series will star Sophie Nélisse as Lucy Ashby, with Roby Attal and Francesca Reale cast as the sibling duo Felix and Bridget.

The story centers on Lucy Ashby, who travels to PEI to support her best friend Bridget, only to confront a complicated past with Bridget's brother, Felix. Their history includes a one-night stand years prior, complicating Lucy's promise to Bridget's "three rules."

Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart are serving as creators and executive producers. The directorial team includes Karen Maine, Jasmin Mozaffari, and Fab Filippo. This adaptation marks another of Fortune's books heading to screen, with "Meet Me At The Lake" also in development with Netflix and Archewell Productions.
