Netflix Sets Fall Release Date for 'Guarding Stars'

Netflix has announced a fall release date for 'Guarding Stars,' a new film adaptation based on Katherine Center's popular novel, 'The Bodyguard.' The movie is scheduled to premiere on the streaming platform on November 18.

This holiday romantic comedy features a notable cast, including Leighton Meester and Jared Padalecki in the lead roles. The film's title was revised to 'Guarding Stars' to distinguish it from the well-known 1992 film 'The Bodyguard,' starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, with input from fans and readers of Center's book.

Additional cast members include Andie MacDowell, country music artist Walker Hayes, Toby Sandeman, and CM Punk. The story, adapted from Center's 2022 novel, involves a bodyguard assigned to protect a charming action star during the holidays, leading to unexpected romantic sparks and unfolding secrets.

Directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum, the screenplay was penned by Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith. The film is produced by Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo, with Jared and Genevieve Padalecki also serving as producers.
